Due to the recent expansion of the DWP Covid Inquiry Team, DWP is looking to fill one HEO Covid Inquiry Business Analyst role supporting DWPs response to the Covid Public Inquiry. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a high profile cross-government programme. The postholder will work as a business analyst on a range of activities linked to the Inquirys requirements and will be working with a range of stakeholders in support of DWPs Inquiry Witnesses.

Job description
This role involves the collection, collation and analysing of a wide range of data from multiple data sources. The job holder will support the Briefing Hub and effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify evidence relevant to the inquiry, supporting stakeholders to prepare evidence. The role will focus on interpreting large amounts of evidence to maintain a coherent narrative across DWPs response to the pandemic.
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.
Who are we looking for?
An individual who:
- Has a working knowledge of: Business Continuity, risk management, resilience capabilities or crisis management.
- Possesses highly developed planning, effective communication, stakeholder engagement and risk management skills.
- Has experience of successfully interrogating, analysing reporting on complex data sets to influence outcomes.
- Has strong planning skills with a proven track record in planning and supporting delivery of large/complex areas of work to meet deadlines and deliver outcomes.
- Is comfortable and capable of working across organisational boundaries including working with senior leaders, policy and legal teams.
- Is highly organised and has the ability to multitask and prioritise competently ensuring attention to detail. Has a demonstrable commitment to promoting diversity & inclusion and personal and team resilience. Enables constructive challenge, can coach and develop people and lead teams through change.
Additional Information:
- It is desirable to have knowledge and experience of Information Management and/or Incident Response and Business Continuity in a large and complex organisation.
- It is also desirable to have knowledge or understanding of DWPs response to COVID from 2020 through to 2022.
- The postholder will require a minimum of Security Check (SC) clearance once appointed so applicants will need to hold this or be willing to undergo SC clearance.
- Due to the nature of this post, it requires the postholder to work out of one of the DWP Change hubs.
- This post will require some travel nationally and this may involve occasional overnight stays.
- For vacancies in Wales, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

The essential criteria for this role are:
- Proven experience of producing excellent communications with the ability to assimilate and interpret information quickly and explain complex propositions simply and clearly.
- Strong planning and organisation skills with proven track record of analysing data from across large or complex areas of work to deliver outcomes.
- Demonstrable experience of systematically assessing risks, develop plans and draft detailed briefings.
- The ability to lead by example and provide inspiration, direction and support to colleagues and internal/external stakeholders.
- The ability to develop and use a strong and highly effective stakeholder networks across internal and external organisational boundaries and hierarchies.

Selection process details
As part of the application process you will be asked to provide a personal statement of 1250 words and also provide a CV showing your job history, qualification and experiences (the CV will not be used in the sifting process).
After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Work Strengths Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

The Interview
Interviews will take place remotely by an MS Teams video call. Further details and instructions will be provided closer to the scheduled interview. The interview will take approximately 45 minutes.
All applicants who progress to interview will be assessed against a mixture of behavioural and strengths elements of Success Profiles. The panel is not looking for how much time you have served in a particular field but rather how you performed.
