Person specification
– Receipting goods including unloading of vehicles, using correct Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), Documentation and Procedures.
– Dispatch of goods including packing and loading of vehicles using correct Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), Documentation and Procedures.
– Carry out High Priority and Routine transport requests and ensure they are actioned within a timely manner.
– Manual and Electronic accounting with MOD computer systems.
– Lifting and carrying of equipment and spares lifting up to 20kg.
– Dealing direct with internal and external customers.
– Supervise Visiting Drivers/Staff ensuring that health and safety procedures are followed. Ensuring the correct PPE is being used.
– Create new locations and ensure goods are stored appropriately.
Essential Criteria:
Basic Secondary Education. Working Experience in Warehousing/Logistics
Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
An understanding and awareness of risk
Desirable Criteria:
Forklift License – Trained to RTITB standards
COSHH – Experience in handling safety data sheets

Selection process details

All employees joining DE&S/Deca who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period, which will be effective from the
employment start date.

Being mindful of the scrutiny on public sector pay Public Sector and in accordance with Civil Service Terms and Conditions, salary on appointment is normally at the minimum point of the salary range and this should therefore be the expectation. Existing Civil Servants will be appointed in line with the normal Civil Service pay rules.
