This is an outstanding opportunity offered within 47 Commando Raiding Group Royal Marines, (47 Cdo). The exciting role as 47 Cdos Unit Ammunition Storekeeper, position is located in the heart of Devonports historical dockyard.

Job description
The Unit Ammunition Storekeeper (UAS) will be expected to be adaptable in the issue of ammunition to 47 Cdos operational and exercising troops. This includes the routine stores collection from UK depots and preparation for issue. They will have to manage and upkeep 47 Cdos bunker and be present at the time of issue and return of ammunition. As the custodian of high standards, any Dangerous Goods (cargo) must be consigned out of the Unit in line with service policy. Further general storekeeper duties are to be expected of the UAS including cleanliness, correct stock musters and Health and Safety compliance. To maintain the ammunition licence and uphold the standards of 47 Cdo, the UAS must understand and apply the procedure within 47 Cdos Ammunition standing orders ready for 3rd party assurance. Furthermore, with impeccable accounting, the UAS maintains the stock levels within the bunker ready for any future tasks, raising through the Chain of Command any deficiencies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the storage, receipt, and issue of ammunition in RM Tamar in line Unit standing orders and MOD policy. Accountable to the Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant 2 (RQMS2). This is broken down as follows:
- Collect, receive, store and issue ammunition, Including backloading of brass and containers to depot. Drive or be driven in an adequate vehicle to a UK depot and identify the correct stock ordered for 47 Cdo. Once identified, assist with the manual handling of the stock and secure the load in the transport, returning to RM Tamar. Upon arrival at RM Tamar, the stock must be secured in line with policy in the magazine, being presentable and ready for issue.
- Ammunition accounting and consigning ammunition (dangerous goods) for movement by transport. Individually count, muster and secure ammunition natures inside the magazine and ensure that we are not holding more than the ammunition licence allows. A daily count of quantity and updating service accounting systems either manually or electronically. As ammunition is explosive and classed as Dangerous Goods, determine what stock is moving on paperwork and correctly itemise that for each road movement.
- Ensure all paperwork is actioned, completed and passed on to the QMs department in a timely manner. After each stock take of manually counting ammunition, input on the current MOD accounting system as this will highlight deficiencies that may need rectification. Each ammunition transaction will require computer input to account for correctly.
- Be familiar with Stores accounting and operating systems. Interrogate policy to understand how and when to muster stock and how to correctly store ammunition to ensure it is safe, auditable and presentable. This is laid down in policy and will require physical counting of stock and manual manoeuvre within the magazine.
- Undertake the AADGC for Dangerous Goods to control the Units Dangerous Goods movements by land, sea, and air. With training, conduct the vital course to allow you to determine what class of Dangerous Goods your are moving. Once trained, input what natures on to electric and manual forms that will accompany the driver of the stock. Mission dependent, you may have to do this for Air or Sea movement.
- Responsible for reverse supply chain freight movements, including transport documentation and loading of vehicles. Conduct the same processes as collecting stock but in reverse. This will take manual counting, manual manoeuvre, movement of dangerous goods and accompanying paperwork. You will also be in attendance at Depot.
