Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of DEI Implementation Manager.

The selected candidate will lead the strategic development and communications of programme implementation and transition strategies to support and stimulate collaborative activity and understanding between forces and, where appropriate, third-party organisations.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive and lead the engagement of key national stakeholders (National networks, forums, NPCC) to identify and develop the appropriate products to meet the College’s DEI outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with internal College colleagues to build matrix relationships to lead on the development to implement initiatives that challenge the status quo in the policing profession and promote DEI to be at the heart of the policing profession.
  • Drive and lead the force implementation of College guidance documents and tools; assist implementation support via a team of Senior Implementation Advisors working in close collaboration with members of the Implementation and Engagement professional community. Ensure wider engagements and implementation are embedded through force plans.
  • Provide leadership for a culture that fosters links and robust partnerships between policing organisations and key stakeholders to expand existing activity, engagement and collaboration to further professionalism across policing.
  • Lead liaison with the College’s Marketing and Communications Unit for the effective communication/engagement and review/interpret the outcomes of implementation of activity, supporting and appraising strategic leads by providing solutions and specialist advice on how any changes/modifications/risks identified could be appropriately adapted/enhanced/or mitigated against to contribute to achievement of the strategic aims of specified DEI initiatives.
  • Lead, inspire and performance manage the DEI Implementation Team. Ensure that agreed scopes of work are completed within agreed time and quality parameters.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • A Level 7 qualification in the subject matter/extensive experience
  • Study or practical experience of working in specialist field (DEI) at senior leadership level, or equivalent
  • Current policing knowledge and experience of policing/law enforcement environments
  • Leading cross-functional delivery teams in a complex stakeholder environment

This role is a designated homeworking role. Will require regular travel to all College of Policing sites, UK police forces and external organisations. Occasional out of hours working and travel to international organisations.

This role is available for 2 years as a secondment opportunity to:

  • colleagues employed directly by the College. Please note you will be required to obtain the written support of your line manager prior to submitting your application.
  • serving police officers substantive in the rank of Superintendent, or those officers suitably qualified for temporary promotion in the rank of Chief Inspector. All applicants must have the support of their Chief Officer which must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC and this must accompany an application.
  • serving police staff at the equivalent rank of Superintendent who have their chief officer’s approval. Chief Officer’s approval must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC. Approval for a secondment must accompany an application.

Central service conditions may apply for police officers and staff.
