Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent, and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence.

As part of a diverse and inclusive workforce, our team will find a community to belong to – whether that’s alongside project teams with a shared vision or as part of an employee network of like-minded individuals. We believe that, by celebrating different backgrounds and different perspectives, together we’ll achieve the extraordinary.

Job description

Are you ready to join the team that is building the UK’s next generation of nuclear submarines?

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is working with BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce in the Dreadnought Alliance, a unique partnership that combines the best of public and private sector expertise to deliver four cutting-edge submarines at a cost of £31 billion. The first submarine will be ready to patrol the seas in the early 2030s, ensuring the UK’s security and defence for decades to come.

Come and join us at the SDA as a Supply Chain Manager (SCM) in the Dreadnought Supply and Support Team (DSST).

DSST delivers Government Furnished Assets (GFA), including but not restricted to information, facilities, and physical items, irrespective of value. Under the terms of the contract, they are  supplied to the Contractor by the Government or owned by the Government and held by the Contractor, into the Dreadnought Design and Build Programme and for managing the transition of Dreadnought into the Royal Navy.

The SCM role will centre on the Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) aspect. Examples of GFE include Rolls Royce Power and Propulsion, Combat Systems elements such as communication equipment, platform elements from cables to fire extinguishers, and crucial United States (US) supplied items.

The GFA Asset Management Team is responsible for the receipt and handover of GFE to the Dreadnought Programme and is the onsite presence for logistics collaboration and delivery issue resolution. The team is also accountable for all MOD supplied equipment verification activities prescribed by the wider MoD organisation.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to develop skills in roles primarily engaged in transactional activities, working under guidance in a fast-paced environment.  GFE come from many different suppliers into the Barrow site, and the working environment is a vibrant mix of office, warehouse, and shipyard.

We also have a wide range of staff networks, where you can meet new people, share perspectives, and celebrate differences, too. You can be sure that when you join us, you’ll be joining a real community.

This role is based in our offices in Barrow-in-Furness, and in-office attendance is expected at least 3 days per week
