Job summary
The responsibilities for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero for 2023 are as follows:
- Delivering security of energy supply
- Ensuring properly functioning energy markets
- Encouraging greater energy efficiency
- Seizing the opportunities of net zero to lead the world in new green industries
For 2023, our priorities are:
- Ensure security of energy supply this winter, next winter and in the longer-term bringing down energy bills and reducing inflation.
- Ensure the UK is on track to meet its legally binding Net Zero commitments and support economic growth by significantly speeding up delivery of network infrastructure and domestic energy production.
- Improve the energy efficiency of UK homes, businesses and public sector buildings to meet the 15% demand reduction ambition.
- Deliver current schemes to support energy consumers with their bills and develop options for long-term reform to improve how the electricity market works for families and businesses.
- Seize the economic benefits of Net Zero, including the jobs and growth created through investment in new green industries.
- Pass the Energy Bill to support the emerging CCUS and hydrogen sectors; to update the governance of the energy system; and to reduce the time taken to consent offshore wind.

Job description
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a track record of successful delivery of high value and complex projects? Are you interested in working at the forefront of the government’s Net Zero agenda? If so, we’d like to hear from you to lead the delivery of the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF).
IETF is a key Government grant funding scheme on the pathway to Net Zero. Our objectives are to reduce energy costs and emissions for industry, particularly for energy intensive companies in the near-term, and to reduce the costs and risks of deep decarbonisation technologies by demonstrating those technologies.

Key Responsibilities
As a Delivery Manager you will be a part of the IETF Delivery Team. Our project is entering a new and exciting phase, and we need skilled and experienced professionals who enjoy working in a fast paced grant delivery environment and can manage commercial and collaborative relationships. You will lead and manage the successful delivery of the next phase of the Fund, managing contributions from policy, commercial, finance, communications and analysis colleagues. You will also establish and lead on relationships with delivery partners and suppliers across all phases of the Fund ensuring sound commercial and financial management of the Fund.
You will use your delivery expertise, commercial acumen and leadership skills to develop and implement the delivery processes for the Fund and will be expected to anticipate and develop solutions to delivery challenges, making recommendations to seniors.
You will do this by:
– Building and managing relationships with external and internal Delivery Partners, ensuring fund delivery is maintained to quality, time and within allocated budgets;
– Keeping delivery of multiple overlapping grant activities on track through establishing robust management controls, setting up and embedding consistent and clear management processes;
– Proactively identifying and managing risks and issues and finding resolution through collaborative problem-solving with a cross-functional team as well as identifying the need for involving senior colleagues, where appropriate;
– Line managing and activity managing a small team, coaching, supporting and motivating others to deliver high quality results under time pressure.
Person specification
We would love to hear from you if you have proficiency in the following:
– A good communicator and doer who can establish trust with colleague, external partners and commercial suppliers at all levels. Experience of managing relationships with delivery partners is essential.
– Credible in dealing with a broad range of people, confident to deliver clear and authoritative advice and recommendations to colleagues and senior officials.
– Able to take the initiative, proactively plan and drive delivery and spot opportunities and threats.
– Able to operate with a high degree of autonomy to keep the project on track and constructively challenge and influence while maintaining good relationships with project partners and suppliers.
– Commercially and financially savvy, confident with numbers and commercial jargon.
– Knowledge of grant management standards is desirable. Previous experience of similar funding schemes is desirable, but not essential.
