Job summary

The Estates Technical Support Team have an exciting and dynamic opportunity for an Estates Technical Support Officer (ETSO) to join their busy team. The successful candidate will provide Technical support solutions to the Facilities Management community and Technical Managers ensuring Dstl maintain a legally compliant estate.  This is a busy role and one that demands attention to detail in all areas.  Following induction and training the successful ETSO will work closely with a wide range of key stakeholders in order to facilitate and recognise an ambitions estate development plan over the coming years.

There is also a requirement to assist the Permit Co-ordination Office (PCO) with administration support; the role sits at the centre of a dynamic contractor management environment. As part of the MoD’s 4C’s system of control (JSP 375) the primary purpose is to ensure our staff, and contractors work in a safe, secure and legally compliant manner. The role is co-located with the wider PCO team with a focus on undertaking a range of activities including contractor induction and using the booking system.

Job description

In this role you will:

  • Ensure the contractor has the correct paperwork (SSoW, RAMS’ etc. in active works)
  • Deliver agreed Contractor Induction and awareness briefings
  • Deal with general queries from contractors and visitors and escalate where necessary.
  • Prepare, run and update FM reports.
  • Provide Technical Admin support across the Estates group and support the Estates Technical leadership team as required.
  • Raising of Purchase Requisitions.
  • Attendance and support in Estates meetings.
  • Provision of support to the management of incidents and investigations.
  • Supporting FM compliance and assurance activities.

This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Developed an understanding of an Estates function supporting and leading on both Hard FM and Soft FM delivery.
  • A proven ability and desire to develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental Protection standards in FM.
  • A basic understanding or awareness of H&S legislation.
  • A strong ownership and delivery mind-set who drives continuous improvement in our management of visitors and contractors.
