Job description
What you will bring
As the Data Governance Lead, you will act as the data governance expert for the CQC and provide data governance advisory services. You will lead the production, development and implementation of our data governance strategies and policies.
Youll provide robust data governance expertise and detailed advice to CQC colleagues, helping to enhance data literacy and supporting others to confidently utilise and have trust in data.
Additionally, you will:
Be part of the overall leadership team in data and information management
Promote the right data culture across the CQC
Play a leading role in educating and coaching others on the importance of good data governance and data best practice

Person specification
Serve as a Data Governance Subject Matter Expert to CQC
Provide data governance advisory services to the business, Data Owners, and Data Stewards, bringing deep knowledge of data governance to safely and robustly drive value from the data CQC holds.
Manage risks through relating to Data and Information Governance
Embed a culture of data empowerment by coaching others on data governance best practices, and help author policies, standards, and processes, enabling people to confidently use data.
Educate business, insight and technology teams, helping to raise data literacy across CQC.
Work as part of a network of colleagues across CQC contributing to the delivery of a successful records and information management policy and knowledge management approach.
Work with the Data Management lead to ensure that data and metadata standards are applied consistently across all CQC datasets.
Drive and build relationships internally and externally.
Role model inclusive behaviours in everyday interactions.
Promote a culture of respect and fairness and understand personal responsibilities around delivering against CQC diversity and inclusion strategy.
Demonstrate competence and support others to achieve behavioural excellence through our Success Profiles (Grade A) ensuring yourself and those you work with are the best that they can be.
Role model and support others to instil our values into everything that we do.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Experience in implementing or maintaining in a company-wide data governance program
Expert communicator able to tell the story of data maturity and influence strategy
Expert knowledge of current Data Governance standards
Strong technical ability, experience of implementing data governance tools
Strong knowledge of Data Management best practices.
Excellent decision-making skills and sound judgement with minimal supervision
Proven experience in managing conflict and articulating coherent rationales for action.
Proven ability to anticipate problems, know how to prevent them and understand how problems fit into the larger picture.
Expert ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions across high risk and complexity or under constrained timescales.
Desirable:
Knowledge and understanding of the health and care sectors.
