Job description
The DIO Non Current Asset assistant accountant role is to support the Non-Current Asset Manager in accurately maintaining the Land and Buildings asset register. This will include the timely processing of all changes to the register (additions, cost corrections, disposals etc), assisting in the month end accounting process, supporting the annual asset revaluation programme, and assisting on the year end audit.
This role will provide the successful applicant with a unique opportunity to experience working within the Non-Current Asset accounting team, obtaining a knowledge and understanding of the key role that Land and Building asset management plays in DIOs financial accounts and obtain a wider understanding of the role of audit and assurance. Youll interact with a range of stakeholders across DIO and the wider Department.
The role sits in DIOs Financial Accounting team, a small team of experienced professionals providing financial accounting reporting for the organisation and governance across the Finance function.
Person specification
The key responsibilities of this role are:
Processing Asset change notifications received from the business to ensure that the Asset register is accurately updated for changes in assets on a timely basis. This will involve communication between DIO, wider MOD and the Asset Register Processing Centre to ensure a coordinated approach to the upkeep of the Land and buildings asset register.
Support the month end / year end process by preparing and posting accounting journals, and reconciling the Non current asset control accounts.
Supporting in the Annual asset revaluation (QQR) process , resolving queries, and making decisions on how to treat the revalued assets.
Supporting the annual audit by assisting on the Non Current Asset samples.
Desirable Experience:
Asset accounting experience and knowledge of asset accounting principles,
Good excel skills (Vlook up/ Pivot tables)

Employment Hours:

- Quantity of work demands a full time person. The nature of the work is such that the work is not easy to job share with the post holder needing to respond to organisational demands at short notice and needing to keep abreast of departmental requirements through direct involvement
