The Challenge
DIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and is the MODs professional estate services business and responsible for managing over £3billion annual investment into the defence estate in the UK and overseas, an estate valued at circa £35billion. It does this through a range of term, framework, PFI and other supply contracts that make DIO one of the largest contracting organisations in Government.
The Customer Delivery Manager positions advise, guide, coordinate and support the planning of the Front Line Commands programmes of investment in their estate. They will actively identify and manage risks, conduct root cause analysis on areas of under performance, and continuously striving to improve delivery performance. This is a vital customer engagement role between DIO, the Front Line Commands and the wider MOD customer.

Main Responsibilities
A Customer Delivery Manager needs to:
Provide strong and visible leadership, promoting good working relationships within the team, wider organisation and appropriate customers and Suppliers. This also requires leading individuals outside of the direct team to contribute to business outputs
Build a comprehensive understanding of the customers infrastructure objectives and sites; an extensive support network across Regional Delivery and its enabling business functions; and a detailed grasp of the agreed programme of work and an awareness of contracted services.
Develop and maintain an intelligent understanding of in year delivery position across Regional Delivery for Air Command through data analysis and partner engagement.
Negotiate with and influence the customer, DIO and MOD branches where necessary to deal with sophisticated and novel issues relating to programme delivery and improving programme output. Be happy to challenge where necessary and be comfortable dealing with adversity on occasion.
Prepare and deliver briefings, reports and analysis on the programme of activity, risks or delays in delivery for senior leaders.
Chair or attend meetings with senior partners, representing all aspects of programme delivery for the respective customer.
Using expertise from across Regional Delivery, give definitive advice to the customer.
Be a full and active member of the wider Customer Support Team, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with the customer, DIO staff and Suppliers and establishing appropriate measure of effectiveness with the customer and DIO.
Ensuring effective communication channels exist across the wider team and DIO, and promoting the work of DIO more widely though preparation of presentations and collaborator briefing material.
Line manage CDM support staff.
Desirable Experience & Skills
Ability to demonstrate an understanding of minor project delivery through Government Hard FM contracts, preferably on the Defence estate, is desirable.
Knowledge of structure and outputs of Air Command is desirable.

Travel Costs

Nationality Statement
As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came into effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points-based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical.
