Job summary

This role is based primarily within the Aftercare Team, which sits within the wider Complex Casework Team at UK Security Vetting. The purpose of the Aftercare Team is to investigate anything of security concern, between periods of normal vetting review, which potentially affects an individual holding a national security clearance. We are currently recruiting one Vetting Manager to join our existing team. This is a complex decision-maker role.

Job description

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse and assess complex vetting enquiries, identifying potential security risks, and recording evidence of your decision, making in a written document.
  • Make key vetting decisions, referring to policy and using your own professional judgement.
  • Appropriately refer/escalate any high-risk cases.
  • Liaise with applicants/clearance holders to explain why they may not be suitable for clearance.
  • Mentor and provide vetting casework advice to team members across a range of workstreams.

Person specification

As Vetting Manager within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; to be able to present information in a clear and concise manner, with attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Discretion; vetting confidentiality is paramount in safeguarding the personal information being processed.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and manage your own workload.
  • IT skills, especially in Google applications.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience of vetting policy and processes.
