Job summary
The Directorate Navy Acquisition (DNA) manages the Navys major acquisition programmes. DNA Programmes are grouped under one-star leadership (RN OF6 or SCS1) according to the capability being delivered and comprise of Future Support Acquisition (FSA), Ships Acquisition (SA), Equipment and Systems Acquisition (ESA), Commando Force (CF) and Defence Marine Service Next Generation (DMS-NG).
Future Support Acquisition (FSA) is a crucial component of DNA and is the TLBs Support Solution specialists responsible for four principal functions which shape and deliver the support acquisition portfolio:
1. Future Support Strategic Planning;
2. Future Support and Enablers Programme Delivery; and
3. In-Service Support Programme Sponsorship and Performance.
Delivering these responsibilities, Deputy Director FSA (DD-FSA) is the Navy Command SME and policy lead for Support Solutions. The FSA vision is to provide the Royal Navy with world class commercial by design support, with solutions that are transformative, safe, highly effective, innovative and market leading.

The role of the FSA PMO Governance Manager 2 is to embed a consistent and coherent governance strategy across the FSA sub-portfolio and act as the interface between the FSA PMO and the FSA sub-portfolio programme teams to ensure the timely provision of high-quality information, communication and reporting to support the mandated DNA governance processes.
As part of a small but flexible team, this role will support the PMO across all functions, but will have a focus on the Governance around stakeholder engagement.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
This is a new role designed to work specifically to the FSA team in a newly established FSA PMO, which works in liaison with the wider Directorate of Naval Acquisition portfolio.
This will be a great opportunity to help build up the new FSA PMO and will be an integral part of shaping the FSA PMO and its future work and structure.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Ensure the integrity of sub-portfolio programme data and management information is accurate and fit for purpose, supporting the data reporting process and programme performance overview.
- Provide an accurate PMO drumbeat and reporting calendar, to support our programmes to achieve their reporting deadlines.
- Lead a communications strategy that includes FSA stakeholder engagement & register, communications plan and business plan maintenance.
- Provide the wider FSA team with support at events such as workshops and conferences, assisting with briefs and stakeholder liaison.
- Support the PMO manager with ad-hoc briefings and presentations and provide consistency of approach across all FSA media.
- Maintain consistency across SharePoint media recording.
- Be flexible in their support of the FSA PMO TL and the wider FSA PMO team.
Person specification
We are looking for an individual who can work flexibly within a small PMO team, adapting existing skills and developing new skills.
It would be desirable for a candidate to have the following skills/experience; however these are not essential:
- Developing and implementing governance and reporting within a complex P3M environment.
- Designing and implementing appropriate stakeholder formats to support decision making processes.
- Demonstrable support in hub and/or spoke project office(s) or delivery programme teams that have successfully delivered their outputs within complex change delivery environments.
- Working knowledge and understanding of operational maritime support delivery, preferably within RN, MoD Delivery Agents or Naval Base environments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for reports, briefs and presentations
- Flexibility to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment.
