Introduction
The Research & Information (R&I) team in the House of Commons is the home of the Commons Library, and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).
At the heart of R&I is the 200 strong team of people delivering and supporting our work. These roles range from information professionals and Librarians, statisticians and subject experts; to communication professionals, learning and development leads, and those providing office and business support.

The role of the Culture and Inclusion Manager is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a more inclusive culture in R&I and facilitate and support positive change across the team.
This role is based in the Service Development team which supports the whole of R&I on work related to people and culture, finance, strategy and planning, and technology and data. The Culture and Inclusion Manager will work closely with the People Capability Lead, who is responsible for people and culture strategy and initiatives in the team, and line manager for this post. They will also work closely with other members of the Service Development team, the R&I Management Board, line managers and colleagues around R&I, as well as other key partners across Parliament, and beyond.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
- Plan, coordinate and deliver a range of actions and activities to take forward culture and inclusion work in R&I, including leading our local Inclusion and Diversity Plan, creating and managing projects as necessary and providing related progress reports.
- Lead R&Is Reciprocal Mentoring programmes.
- Work collaboratively with the central Inclusion and Diversity and People and Culture Teams to ensure strategic alignment with corporate initiatives and to promote and share best practice.
Person specification
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- A commitment to and demonstrable experience of delivering workplace culture and inclusion strategies, with an aim to increase diversity in a team or organisation. Able to see the bigger picture, aligning activities to contribute to wider organisational priorities and strategies.
- Well-developed people skills and a strong team work ethic, with experience of challenging, influencing and persuading people at all levels to a desired outcome. Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with people working in different roles and responsibilities and from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience of using feedback and data to evaluate processes and identify areas for improvement. Able to apply creative and achievable solutions that are evidence-based. Encourages and creates an environment to challenge decisions and issues safely.
- Able to plan and manage workstreams, projects or programmes of work to ensure outcomes are delivered with effective performance monitoring. Highly motivated with the ability to prioritise and take responsibility for resolving issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of engaging with diverse audiences. Demonstrable ability to present information in a clear, accessible and engaging way.
