Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Innovation and Futures Manager.

As a member of a small team, you will be responsible for the College’s national innovation programme – including identifying and scaling local innovations working with policing partners. Developing and overseeing delivery of an idea sharing network for policing and managing a national network of innovation brokers. You will also oversee the College’s horizon scanning and futures programme.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of the College’s innovation programme, working with policing stakeholders including the Office of the Police Scientific Adviser to set out and deliver a pipeline for innovation. Develop and motivate a virtual or matrix team of innovation brokers across policing to innovate and test locally and share nationally.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of the College’s horizon scanning and futures programme, to support national policing system leaders to consider and respond to future challenges and opportunities for policing, working with the wider horizon scanning network across government, policing and academia.
  • Engage, build and influence a network of contacts in diverse roles and departments across policing, and other government departments. Utilise this network and your expert knowledge to improve relevance to, and connection with, College products and services and drive quality.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Proven experience of working in knowledge sharing, organisational learning or an equivalent area
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively with internal and external partners across a portfolio of short- and long-term projects within tight budget, resource and time constraints
  • The ability quickly to acquire and retain credibility across the police service and stakeholders as an authority on knowledge sharing
