Job summary

We are looking for a National Property and Project Manager to join our Property Team. 

The Property team develops Ofsted’s estates strategy in collaboration with the Government Property Agency (GPA) to ensure that our property portfolio is efficiently aligned to the needs of the business and smarter ways of working. This includes acquisition and disposal of properties, managing our buildings and building services, ensuring our buildings remain compliant and a safe place to work, as well as supporting the organisation in business continuity (disaster recovery) and physical security matters.

The post holder will assist the Head of Property to deliver our core business operations across all remits: relocation project management; workplace management; buildings health and safety; physical security; business continuity; and sustainability. 

They will have responsibility for developing and managing national processes and procedures across all remits which meet industry best practice enabling the team to also deliver a range of business lead services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

The post holder will be directly responsible to the Head of Property and undertake appropriate tasks and projects as directed.

The post holder will work a minimum of 30 hours a week, across four set days. The working pattern will be discussed and agreed with the line manager.

Qualifications

Part professional/technical qualifications in a Property/Facilities Management (FM), and Health and Safety related subject, such as Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM), Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), PRINCE2 Project Management or equivalent knowledge and experience in working in a property services/project management/contracts/health and safety environment.

Technical skills

We’ll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Experience of delivering projects and meeting operational targets and objectives within well-defined frameworks.
  • Successful engagement with internal contacts, representation of own work area and collaboration with other teams.
  • Evidence of successful engagement with other departments and agencies.
  • Proven experience of managing property services and contracts.
  • Proven experience of managing and leading multi-disciplined teams.
Alongside your salary of £34,280, Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills contributes
£8,857 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential criteria as set out in the person specification.

Interview:

Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlisting stage will be invited to an interview where they will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and the experience skills set out in section 2 of the job specification.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 14 December 2023 at Agora, Nottingham.
