Job summary
We are currently looking for an experienced Group Operations Manager to join our Safety & Surveillance Team within the Business Support Function.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

The Group Operations Manager leads and manages the business support unit, which provides a range of services to the Chief Safety Officer, Safety and Surveillance Senior Leadership Team and wider functions. The role requires substantial programme and project management expertise, strong communication / influencing skills, and line management capabilities.
Job description
Whats the role?
This role is reporting directly to the Chief Safety Officer, the Group Operations Manager provides comprehensive operational support to the Safety and Surveillance Group and works with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure strategic priorities are delivered.
The post holder must have the ability and confidence to lead and drive operational activity, including identifying areas for improvement and efficiency/resource savings and will be a proactive and capable team player who has experience of balancing a range of tasks and rapid problem solving to ensure the effective running of an office.
Key responsibilities:
Provide full support to the Chief Safety Officer in the development of policy and strategy, alongside overseeing the efficient handling / response of commissions coming into her office
Work with the Senior Leadership Team and their functions to ensure successful delivery of the Groups strategic and operational priorities, inc. establishing a central portfolio of activities underpinned by the periodic update of relevant project documentation and Key Performance Indicators
Manage the governance and secretariat arrangements for the Senior Leadership Team and key internal / external meetings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and tracking of actions to completion
Oversee the co-ordinated update of Group policies and procedures and identify where management changes are required – working with functions to design and implement new standards, systems and procedures – and ensure these are communicated effectively to stakeholders
Provide effective leadership and management to the Business support team, to develop staff in line with the Agencys people and HR strategies and build and inclusive culture of high and continuous performance.

Experience:
Substantial programme / project management experience with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise extensive demands.
Excellent presentation and communication/influencing skills with the ability to concisely communicate information to different audiences to enable successful delivery through others
Excellent writing is required for preparing briefing, independently writing formal reports, gathering information across a range of stakeholders and providing information on complex / technical matters.
Technical:
Degree or equivalent qualification / experience.
Recognised programme / project management qualification.
