Job summary

Applications for this role are restricted to existing employees of the College of Policing, the Civil Service and staff of a UK police force or UK policing organisation.

Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Professional Development Advisor

The selected candidate will be providing advice for the development and maintenance of professional development frameworks, models and workforce transformation initiatives in policing.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and initiating the design and creation of professional development frameworks and products to support the workforce transformation and professionalisation agenda.
  • Consulting with internal and external stakeholders, building networks to inform the development of professional development frameworks, products and tools within agreed time, budget and quality parameters.
  • Coordinating the development, maintenance and review process of evidence-based products to support professional recognition, assessment and enhancement of professional competence, career pathways, development and progression and promotion frameworks to enable the College and/or external providers to design, develop and/or deliver appropriate professional development products and resources which are credible and suitable for implementation.

 To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • A Degree or level 6 qualification in education, professional development or a related subject or extensive equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the design and development of learning programmes, frameworks/models for promotion, performance management, competency assessments and role profile design in a professional context.
  • Demonstrable experience of employing learning theory and methodology to meet specifications for enhancing knowledge and understanding and changing performance and behaviours
  • Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, establishing and maintaining positive working relationships and removing unnecessary barriers to service delivery
