Job summary
This is a unique and exciting role offering challenge, interest and variety. Working within a tight knit and high performing team, this Senior Security Adviser role within the Technical Security team is part of the Safety, Security & Resilience Group in the Operations Division of DSTL. This post will work closely with a wide range of DSTL stakeholders and external accreditation authorities.
The role will provide professional input into security designs for rising building security and on matters relating to Installation Design Authority considerations within a complex security environment.
The Senior Security Adviser will be accountable to the Team Leader for management purposes and the Principal Security Adviser (PSyA) via the Technical Security Lead for technical direction.
This role is a key enabler for secure and compliant business delivery operations and is essential to underpin DSTLs licence to operate.

Job description
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Operational requirements in accordance with CPNI methodology.
- Design scrutiny for DSTL projects which affect major infrastructure of Network Security.
- Problem resolution and developing compliant risk-balanced solutions.
- Configuration management and control, including data management and assurance.
- Specialist security surveys.
- Technical assurance tasks for security compliance.
- The production and maintenance of detailed security documentation.
- Providing input to the Enterprise Security quarterly performance reporting dashboard.
- Assurance of Data Centre security controls.
- Assurance of Network Equipment Room (NER) security control and configuration assurance.
Person specification
We are looking for someone who has:
- Dynamic, adaptable and resilient team player traits.
- Will thrive in a role identifying risk management solutions within a complex technical environment where a risk-balanced approach is required to achieve target outcomes within a strong governance framework.
- Can demonstrate an ability to understand and communicate effectively with Design Authorities, Accreditors and National Authorities in managing complex security environments to achieve risk-balanced technical solutions.
- Dedication to delivering and assuring a secure, safe and resilient work environment for Defence Science and Technology (S&T) maintaining compliance with National Authority guidance.
- Extensive knowledge, experience and skill associated with CIDA roles, responsibilities and procedures proportional to level of responsibility.
- Experience and evidence of operating in high security environments.
