Job summary
DBT has staff based across the UK and overseas, with currently 33 offices in the UK alone. We are rapidly expanding our presence outside London as part of the Governments high-profile Levelling Up agenda via the Places for Growth programme, bringing DBT closer to the communities and businesses we serve. This includes developing and supporting our new workplace strategy across our seven (office) Hub locations across the UK.
We are looking to expand our growing Regional Support Manager (RSM) Team with a new RSM role based in Birmingham. There are three RSMs already in post in Darlington, Cardiff and Edinburgh/Belfast, plus an onboarding RSM in Salford, with a Grade 7 Location Stakeholder Lead managing and growing the team.
The RSM roles exists to ensure that all staff across DBTs UK domestic sites receive the same consistent, high-quality level of support from the Departments corporate services functions. The postholder will work closely across the full range of DBT corporate services to manage on-site operational priorities and resolve issues as they arise. The role will work closely with local leadership to support and grow a stable and inclusive community and working environment that enables our staff to excel at fulfilling their roles and ultimately fulfils our commitment to Places to Growth.
Job description
- Manage on-site operational priorities, e.g. maintaining and sharing location-specific communications and guidance, filling key office management responsibilities, assisting in the coordination of VIP visits or local events, and supporting local leadership to oversee the correct use of on-site facilities.
- Act as a visible representative for corporate services at your site(s). This will include actively engaging staff to understand their support priorities and working with corporate service teams to develop sustainable solutions.
- Work closely with local site leadership and key partners across Government, including the Government Property Agency and other Government departments as required.
- Work closely with other Regional Support Manager roles and the Location Stakeholder Lead to agree priorities and share lessons learnt.
- Contribute to corporate services reporting mechanisms, providing regular updates on operational achievements, challenges and priorities.
Person specification
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of delivering corporate support functions.
- Ability to systematically identify and analyse challenges and collaboratively work with stakeholders to find resolutions.
- Ability to travel to DBT sites across the UK.
Desirable Criteria:
- Prior experience of delivering corporate support at newly established offices, and/or improving processes in established offices.
- Familiarity with project management tools and frameworks.

Interviews for this vacancy will be conducted virtually. We will, however, consider in-person interviews by exception.
