The role will be based at our offices at 2-4 Cockspur Street, London, SW1Y 5BS, in central London, however please note that we are due to move to Canary Wharf in 2024. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are operating hybrid working arrangements that require staff to be in Cockspur Street 40% of their working pattern.

Job summary

The analytical function is made up of Senior Analysts led by the Head of Intelligence Analysis. The function has a flexible operating model, which enables us to respond dynamically to the needs of the organisation and beyond; analysts rotate between the roles on an annual basis. We work closely as a team of professionals in providing our expertise to the most complex and high profile economic crime investigations, developing operations and playing an active part in supporting the Intelligence Division’s core business. Your ability to enjoy team working is vital as we all provide support, share demand and regularly share learning.

We are looking for an experienced analyst who likes to be challenged intellectually, welcomes variety but is used to working independently on detailed evidence for long periods. You will be expected to work on various long and short-term tasks simultaneously and will need to be organised and agile in your approach to demand.  You should also have a good depth of experience investigating serious and/or economic crime.

The intelligence analysts are responsible for generating strategic, tactical, operational and investigative products to a high standard, as well as supporting the development of sensitive intelligence. We work to the competency frameworks set out by both College of Policing and Professional Heads of Intelligence Assessment (PHIA).  In turn your work may be published nationally, and will have an influential role in advising policy direction and decision making at a senior level. You will be required to represent the SFO at joint agency and public private partnership meetings.

Our intelligence analysts are encouraged to continually challenge themselves and develop their skillset by proactively seeking innovative techniques and training. You will be fully supported to enhance your skills and have the opportunity to attend and expected to lead at national training forums.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to work directly alongside legal professions tackling high profile, serious economic crime at close quarters.

Job description

As a Senior Intelligence Analyst you will be responsible for:

  • Producing analytical products and insight to support the Intelligence Division in the development of operations.
  • Producing Threat Assessments to inform the organisation and other HMG partners about emerging trends.
  • Producing Strategic Intelligence Assessments to national standards, presenting the findings and recommendations at senior management level in this organisation and beyond.
  • Supporting case investigation teams with clear, concise analytical products and insights which make sense of large, complex data sets, such as telecommunications and financial material.
  • Representing the SFO at partner meetings, provide opinions and contribute to the wider economic crime landscape.

Interview stage
