The post will have flexibility to work from home, subject to business needs. The post holder will be expected to support occasional Senedd events in Cardiff and travel across Wales delivering engagement activity through events both in person and online.

Job summary

We are looking for an Education and Youth Engagement Team Manager to lead and deliver impactful engagement programmes with young people in communities across Wales. We are committed to providing opportunities for children and young people to engage and learn about the work of the Senedd. This role focuses on managing an outreach programme for young people across Wales.

The Senedd Commission is responsible for providing the services needed by the Senedd to fulfil its parliamentary functions. Its purpose is to ensure that the Senedd is an accessible and effective parliamentary body that instills the confidence of all of the people of Wales. Communicating with the young people of Wales is an especially key strategic function of the Senedd.

The Senedd’s Education and Youth Engagement Team provides a range of educational programmes, in person on the Senedd’s estate, in educational establishments across Wales, and online. In doing so, we are able to increase awareness of the role the Senedd performs, improve understanding of the work of the Senedd, and increase participation in the Senedd and the Welsh Youth Parliament’s work.

Job description

You will lead a team of Education and Youth Engagement Officers based across Wales to develop an engaging outreach programme targeting young people across all communities in both education and youth work settings.

You will also play a key part in managing strands of the Welsh Youth Parliament programme, organising meetings and events for the 60 Welsh Youth Parliament Members including residential weekends in Cardiff, whilst working closely with the Youth Parliament Manager, and the Siambr Hywel Manager to ensure a consistent and worthwhile approach to educational visits to the Senedd Estate.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Welsh Youth Parliament has been supported by our Education and Youth Engagement Officers. Your role will be to manage the workflow of the team in supporting young people and in delivering the Welsh Youth Parliament programme.

Person specification

Job Specific criteria:

  1. Qualification in the field of education or professional youth work, with significant experience of working within the education sector;
  2. Experience of leading and delivering impactful projects that involve young people, across a range of different platforms
  3. Ability to develop excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  4. Experience in designing and analysing a research activity with young people and education professionals
Alongside your salary of £43,693, Welsh Parliament contributes
