This Enterprise Planning role provides an opportunity to be part of a team that is involved in all aspects of the DWP Digital Estate.

An Enterprise Planner formulates, creates, and publishes plans covering the entire DWP estate. The plans encompass major activities scheduled over the next 24 months with the objective of enabling the DWP to deliver its Digital strategy smoothly, seamlessly and without conflict or error. In creating and developing Enterprise Plans you will engage stakeholders to understand release strategies and business working requirements.

You will collaborate with others to analyse data, consider multiple scenarios, and where appropriate help the Enterprise Planning team to facilitate planned moves among several stakeholders to integrate business and technology releases and associated activities.

Job description

The Enterprise Planner will be required to create and publish Enterprise Plans.

To achieve that you will need to engage stakeholders from multiple directorates to understand the context of their release, delivery and implementation strategies.

You are expected to:

  • Own one of the quarterly Enterprise Plans and to ensure its currency, maintenance, viability and publication.
  • Be proactive in owning and managing the plan, engaging stakeholders, obtaining information and identifying issues and concerns.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating, directing and managing more junior members of the team.

Specific Tasks involved in day-to day management of Enterprise Plans include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the collection of Data from multiple sources: Projects, Programmes, suppliers, Business et al.
  • Lead the analysis of data including the understanding, documentation and communication of release schedules, risk and dependency management.
  • Maintenance of Enterprise release planning data in DWP Place (e.g. EPARS).
  • Maintenance and publication of individual Enterprise Release Plans (i.e. on a weekly basis).
  • Act as the Enterprise release planning point of contact with specific Programmes / Supplier areas (e.g. Hybrid Hosting, Networks, Future Assessment Service etc.).
  • Participate where relevant in Enterprise Release Planning continuous service improvement and process initiatives.
  • Take the lead in stakeholder management, as Chair of regular calls, or through engagement with other functions or teams within Live Operations (e.g. Change Management, Release Implementation, Service Design and Transition, Service Catalogue), COO PPM, etc.
  • Understanding the bigger picture and looking at the situation over more than one release package period to understand, disseminate and communicate complex programs of work to multiple audiences.
  • Facilitate the movement of releases within packages/weekends with project and business stakeholders.
  • Undertake line management responsibilities for other team members.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £52,412 to £63,517.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Location

Applicants should apply for suitable posts where they can travel to and from their home office location daily within a reasonable time.   

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Relocation costs will not be reimbursed 

Hybrid Working

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.  This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Stage 1: Application

When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below:

  • Demonstrable skills and experience in consultancy, project management, ITIL service delivery and Service Management.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of new processes and/or technology solutions to drive service improvement.
  • Understanding of business and technical drivers in the context of the IT System Lifecycle, including Application Development, with the experience to recognize and identify potential conflicts of interest when necessary.
  • Experience of risk management, change management and planning methodologies.
  • Excellent Relationship Management, utilising interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels through strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Technology and how it is used to improve business outcomes is also highly beneficial.

Stage 2: Interview

You will be asked to do a short (5 minutes) presentation on a specific topic. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview.
