Job description
This role can be based in Southampton or Fareham. MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work. Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage IT incidents and Service Requests through to resolution within agreed target timeframes.
- Provide first line response and resolution to internal and external customer incidents and queries (by phone, email, chat, in person and more) for all IT systems and devices.
- Uphold excellent customer service skills with enthusiasm and energy.
- Remain technically adept with IT platforms, equipment, and the many vital IT applications used.
- Configuration, packaging, and distribution of IT equipment to customers.
Training will be provided in any technical areas.

Person specification
About You
- Experience in an IT Support environment (comfortable using phones and IT systems).
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, be empathetic and confident in understanding when to escalate work, with strong resilience skills.
- Experience with IT including Microsoft packages Word and Excel.
- Understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Principles,terminology and processes.
Additional Information
- The role requires day time working patterns during the day between the hours of 7am 7pm, weekends and Bank Holidays (including Christmas).
- The role requires the partakaing in the out of hours on call rota to cover high priority incidents outside of normal working hours.
- The role will require working from both Maritime and Coastguard Agency Southampton HQ office and Fareham Joint Rescue and Coordination Centre.
- The role requires SC Clearance.

Within your CV and Personal Statement please demonstrate your knowledge and experience of:
- Experience in an IT Support environment (comfortable using phones and IT systems).
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, be empathetic and confident in understanding when to escalate work, with strong resilience skills.
- Experience with IT including Microsoft packages Word and Excel.
Your Personal Statement will be limited to a maximum of 1,250 words.
It is essential when submitting your personal statement that you provide as much detail as possible, and utilise the full word count given, against the essential criteria outlined above as this will be used in conjunction with your CV to assess candidate suitability to move to the next round in the recruitment process.
