The UKRI International Evaluation plays a key role in coordinating external independent evaluations and contributing to other UKRI-wide evaluations and fund development from an international standpoint.
This role is to develop and deliver monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL Monitoring Evaluation & Learning) activities for UKRIs international programmes, policies and key thematic areas, including the new International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF). This will deliver a robust evidence base to demonstrate the value of UKRI International and increase understanding of what works in global R&I funding.
The team work remotely the majority of the time, however there is an expectation to attend the Swindon office 1-2 days per month with the rest of the team.
Job description
- Developing and conducting evaluations of UKRI International programmes and initiatives, contributing towards the evidence base of what works for global collaboration and delivering transparency on UKRIs international investments.
- Supporting the design and coordinating the delivery of MEL frameworks for large, strategically important and/or exceptionally innovative investments. This includes feeding into the designing, commissioning and managing of contracted programme, policy and thematic evaluations where appropriate.
- Developing best practice and lessons learned summaries for large, strategically important and/or exceptionally innovative investments and other international policies and activities, working with colleagues across UKRI International to embed this learning into new and existing processes, policies and programmes.
- Ensuring that systems and processes designed to capture evidence of impact are fit for purpose, and, where this is not the case, carrying out projects to improve and amend required systems and processes.
Person specification
Essential
- Educated to degree level or relevant experience
- Knowledge and some working experience of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
- Strong project management skills, with experience delivering accurate, high quality pieces of work at pace and to short deadlines
- Experience of quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, or literature reviews, either through delivery or as part of other projects
- Ability to influence and persuade others, and to work with people of all levels and to build good relations with them
