Job summary
This is a great opportunity to work with the UKHSA Biobank Project and Operation Team! As a member of the team, you will be responsible for applying your data analytical and data management knowledge and expertise to produce management information that will help meet the organisational operations and strategic requirements. You will also be helping stakeholders to understand and interpret the data, allowing them to support the decision-making process. Job description
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
- Takes lead role for overall data management, overseeing data collection methods and practices for the UKHSA Biobank Teams.
- Develop and maintain the data system and tools for analysis on an ongoing basis, such that the system can respond to requests for information, data extraction and analysis and reporting any need for system updates
- Identifies the need for new requirements, working with internal and external teams as required, to develop new data modelling and reporting.
- Assist the UKHSA Biobank team with complex user support questions where there is a data element involved. Collaborate with the UKHSA Culture Collections Bioinformatics team as appropriate to assist in optimising data quality and enabling data publication of the NCTC3000 and NCPV500 datasets.
- Assess and respond to data requests, ensuring the prompt provision of information, data, to enquirers.
- To develop and maintain the appropriate systems for managing data requests, data extraction and analysis in association with relevant specialists.
- Builds strong, multi-disciplinary relationships with clinicians and epidemiologists, seeking advice and input to ensure quality assurance of the data.
- Takes responsibility for the teams secure handling and storage of data, ensuring compliance with national requirements for confidentiality and Information Governance, providing assurance to national bodies as required.
- Acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the current principles and procedures of disease.
- Develop understanding of Culture Collections genomic datasets, quality procedures and approaches to data maintenance and publication.

Essential Criteria:

Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- In-depth experience of best practice data management techniques and methodologies
- Significant experience in writing T-SQL code and scripts
- Working knowledge of SQL databases and Business Intelligence software e.g. SQL server, PowerBI and Excel modelling
- Experience of accessing and managing routine data sets including the use of statistical methodologies for interpreting and understanding data sets
- Strong in problem solving and highly numerate with the ability to interrogate and analyse a significant volume of transactional data and present the data and information, in a variety of formats, to a high standard.
Desirable
- Educated to post-graduate degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Further training or significant experience in supporting data and information management processes.
- Relevant experience gained within the public health sector, a large commercial organisation, a regulatory body or government organisation..

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION & SIFT:

This competition will involve an interview held at our Colindale site.
As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve an in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence in relation to the criteria set out in the Person Specification.
