The Head of Strategic Finance – Delivery role is an exciting and challenging leadership role at the heart of the Agency’s finance function. The role requires a blend of technical and strategic skills to help ensure the Agency secures the right types and quantum of funding to deliver its ambitious mission and objectives, to drive continuous improvement in budget management across Homes England and provide clear, robust and holistic forward-looking reporting on the financial position to the Homes England Executive Leadership Team, Homes England Board, DLUHC and HM Treasury.

Job description

You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Strategic Finance and Finance Business Partnering, Assistant Director Financial Reporting and Accounting, Finance Business Partners and Head of Strategic Finance- Admin, as well as working collaboratively with a range of teams across the Agency and with our sponsor Department.

The role’s line manager, Eleanor Cannell believes strongly in the importance of working collaboratively and values diversity in experience and perspective to enable effective decision making and problem solving.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of finance in a fast growing, national organisation with social purpose.  There are ambitious projects to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day-to-day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions to the finance offering. With current annual spend of c£4bn, an ambitious, recently launched multi- year Strategic Plan and Spending Review(s) on the horizon, there couldn’t be a better time to join the Homes England Strategic Finance and Business Partnering Team.

Person specification

Whilst our day job is to deliver a first class service to a wide range of stakeholders, you will be used to “spinning several plates” at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.

You’ll be comfortable supporting the Assistant Director Strategic Finance and Business Partnering with multiple and varied budget management issues on an ongoing basis. As an experienced finance professional you will be proficient in the analysis and insightful presentation of financial data and well-versed in the complexities of UK Government finance.

You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As someone with a track record of managing teams, you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
