Job summary

York Garrison is the collective term given to the group of barracks based in the greater York area belonging to the British Army.  These include all the barracks in York, Strensall, and extends to Leconfield in East Yorkshire.  
  
The Cadet Training Team is responsible for the training of Cadets who undertake military style training as part of the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) as well as offering them opportunities to participate in adventurous training, first aid training and a variety of community engagement activities.

This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Cadet Training Team – Team Administrator in the Business Support and Improvement department. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due to Queen Elizabeth Barracks is currently due to close in 2024. It is not yet clear where the Cadet Training Team will be based once the Barracks closes. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and end 23 months after that date.

If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an internally advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 3 years). At the end of the posting you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If this posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will return to your substantive grade at the end of the Temporary Transfer. If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for further information.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As part of a small, but professional team, The AO Team Administrator will provide crucial administrative support to the Cadet Training Team to allow the effective delivery of the Army’s Cadets programme.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an individual with good administrative and organisational skills to make a lasting difference to the way the York based Cadet Training Team delivers the wider cadet experience at the local level.

Person specification

As the AO Team Administrator your main duties and responsibilities will iinclude:
• Providing routine administrative support to members of the Cadet Training Team (CTT), including management of stationary accounts and Contract Purchasing and Finance (CP&F) accounts/demands as authorised by Quartermaster (QM) CTT.
• Maintain accurate training and personnel records and archives, including maintaining up to date contacts lists.
• Provide support to the cadets database (Westminster), MODNet and other information management systems and administration as appropriate.
• Administer Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) report filing.
• Control of Cadet Contribution accounting.
• Manage Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solutions (JAMES) and Mandatory Equipment Inspection (MEI) programme scheduling.
• Deliver administrative support to CCF Central Camp and other CTT-led training camps.
• Deliver transport bookings and records control.
• Answer administrative queries from stakeholders are required.
A good knowledge of the use of IT in administrative tasks is essential. Knowledge of the ACF computer system Westminster (the Cadet Force Information Management System) is desirable, but full training will be provided to those who do not have this knowledge.

As you will need to visit all of the ACF/CCF locations within your area of responsibility, a full drivers licence would be desirable.
