Job summary

The main focus of the Senior Storekeeper is to ensure high levels of customer service in His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde’s Clothing Store. They will oversee the civilian workforce, ensuring correct procedure is followed with regards to issue / demanding clothing and intervene should any contentious issues arise, offering advice as necessary. Monitoring stock levels and trends, they are to ensure any demands for exhausted / low stock levels are hastened and to keep management informed of any foreseeable problems with supply. As an authorised procurement card holder, they are to adhere to all rules and regulations, and maintain accurate logs for audit purposes.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Duties and responsibilities of the Senior Storekeeper include:

1.       To ensure that adequate stocks of uniform and specialist clothing are maintained to meet customer requirements, highlighting any major shortages to management. 

2.       To provide the customer with an over the counter service to purchase or exchange clothing as required adhering to all rules/regulations and entitlements. 

3.       To ensure all supply vouchers are brought to account correctly and in a timely manner. 

4.       Ensure all vouchers held in support of the Clothing Account are registered, posted and checked, cleared, hastened as necessary and filed correctly, all correct authorities for issue/adjustments to be endorsed.

 5.       To account of the base fuel demands in liaison with the industrial partner.  

6.       Maintain clean and safe working environment whilst adhering to all Health and Safety/Risk Assessments held within the workplace.

7.       Demand items as necessary within current guidelines by use of EPC maintaining records and logs of all transactions.

8.       The supervision of Storekeepers working in their area.

Person specification

It would be beneficial if the individual was customer orientated with good people skills. Although it would benefit if a candidate had previous experience in logistics/ warehousing, it is not essential as the fundamentals of the role will be taught. They should enjoy working in a close relaxed atmosphere with a close knit sociable team.
