If so, our Level 3 Facilities Manager (FM) Supervisor Apprenticeship is for you.
Join Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) to start your career in facilities management. Becoming part of Estates you will be involved in providing essential support in the planning and delivery of an extensive maintenance programme.
Your apprenticeship in FM will see you develop skills in contract management, maintenance of workplaces and auditing (to name a few!).

After you have successful completed and demonstrated a positive work ethic, your continuous development will be supported with the Level 4 Facilities Management Apprenticeship.
Job description
In this role you will:
- Minimise risks to ensure safe working areas
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Assist with the completion of audits and workplace inspections to ensure facilities are safe, compliant and that our Estates Service Provider is delivering to contractual requirements
- Learn the impact FM has on the environment, quality management, survey & benchmarking techniques as well as the principles of contract management
- Use safe working practices ensuring that you and your colleagues report on any unsafe practices, no matter how big or small. You will, follow safety guidelines, respecting and contributing to a strong Dstl safety culture.

Person specification
We are looking for someone who has:
- A genuine interest in facilities maintenance and management
- A pro-active and can-do attitude to completing tasks
You will possess these essential skills:
- Effective communication; both verbally and written
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to work to deadlines and balance multiple priorities
You may also have these desirable skills:
- Awareness of construction design and management regulations
- Knowledge or experience in auditing

Important Information
Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. You must be 18 in September 2024 to undertake this apprenticeship.
