Job summary

As a Researcher in the new In-House Direct Sourcing Team, you will work with a Senior In-House Consultant and two Search Consultants and be involved in helping influence the ability of Government Departments and Professions to hire the right talent that they need to be able to deliver for the citizens of the UK.

You will use various search engines, particularly LinkedIn, to develop and build professional executive searches.  LinkedIn Recruiter will be a major tool used regularly to create market maps and ensure we have a strong knowledge base of candidates. You will also provide campaign support, through the administration of campaign documentation and management of the In-House Search tracker as well as responding to enquiries from vacancy holders and candidates and following up on outstanding invoices.

You will work alongside other experienced recruitment professionals in our SCS recruitment team, in a fast-paced but supportive operational delivery environment, where you will quickly and regularly see the impact you are having on the Civil Service.

In time, the opportunity will be available for making direct contact and developing connections on behalf of the Civil Service, becoming involved in establishing a good working relationship between candidates and the Civil Service, and providing prospects with any relevant information to support them in encouraging them to apply for advertised roles.

Job description

You will be part of this centralised expert service that works across the whole of Government where you will be able to apply your specialist headhunting experience to a portfolio of customers. Your work will vary daily, providing an opportunity to demonstrate flexibility and collaboration skills as the team flex between dealing with a range of campaigns where we are searching for professionals in scarce or hard to recruit markets or locations.

You will be expected to be involved in a wide variety of activities including (but not limited to):

  • Working closely to support the Search Consultants, managing the administration of all online documentation; 
  • Arranging, managing and taking detailed notes at planning meetings with stakeholders as well as their distribution 
  • Undertaking desk-based research following a detailed briefing with customers;
  • Providing expert and comprehensive administrative management of search campaigns and be the first point of contact for queries and will involve playing a key role in supporting vacancy holders, in addition to providing expert recruitment/ pre-employment advice and guidance to potential candidates;
  • Using strong oral and written communication skills daily along with excellent presentation skills, showing self-motivation and an ability to develop working relationships with external and internal prospects at pace and with ease;
  • Collation of pre-sifted applications and issuing these to vacancy holders/panel members;
  • Providing post and pre-campaign support through having an excellent understanding of Microsoft Office packages, our CRM and other internal software as needed. 
  • Demonstrating the “one team” ethos to support colleagues across the In-House Search Team as required; 
  • Demonstrating the ability to work independently and at pace.

Desirable

  • Recent or previous experience of the executive search process would be desirable but not essential as full training will be provided to enable you to create desk–based research to support executive search activities
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office or Google Suite and competency with recruitment management systems would be advantageous
Alongside your salary of £27,750, Cabinet Office contributes
£7,492 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
