Job summary

The Data and Insights team reports to Head of Commercial Data and Systems and are responsible for the following:

  • Defining data strategy and approach
  • Managing central datasets (with input from stakeholders)
  • Producing, managing and governing MI
  • Providing employee, financial and commercial analytics (for local stakeholders to action)
  • Managing supplier information and analytics
  • Conducting supplier segmentation
  • Generating insights and providing gap analysis (for local owners to action)
  • Collating data from wider stakeholders
  • Producing the datasets and associated slides to support non-contract procurement activity
  • Developing, managing and reviewing KPIs and other metrics from KPI framework
  • Tracking against KPIs

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Data and Analytics Reporting Officer responsible for:

  • Managing and delivering Cabinet Office reporting obligations (with input from local stakeholders)
  • Data analysis of Comrcl data derived from Core Systems
  • Engaging stakeholders & maintaining stakeholder networks
  • Developing and maintaining dashboards and data tools
  • Identifying data, investigating and analysing data issues
  • Capturing data requirements from the business
  • Upskilling stakeholders across the Commercial Function in agreed data business practices
  • Production of datasets and associated slideSupporting the production, management and governance of data

Applicants should note that the Data & Insights team are currently working a hybrid pattern involving Working From Home with one day a week attendance in office (Tuesdays). This may rise to 2 days in office going forward.

Person specification

Skills / experience / knowledge 

  • Experience and knowledge of excel and data visualisation software such as Power BI
  • Knowledge of Commercial / contract management / procurement experience gained within Public or Private Commercial sectors
  • Knowledge of the Commercial lifecycle and related compliance / governance requirements (e.g. EU procurement directives
  • Demonstration of excellent stakeholder engagement & management at all levels, internally and externally

    Qualifications/experience

    Experience of Contracting, Purchasing & Finance (CP&F) and Cognos Analytics reporting would be desirable but not essential

    The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to take on tasks and quickly analyse the requirements and potential solutions, and work to challenging deadlines and with minimal supervision. They will demonstrate a pro-active approach to solving issues to deliver quality outputs.
