Job summary

Homes England are seeking to appoint a Director of Affordable Housing to work closely with our Executive Leadership Team to help the Agency deliver on the Secretary of State’s levelling up and regeneration agenda.

Reporting into David Bridges, our Interim Chief Investment Officer, this role is an opportunity to help overall housing regeneration in England; to be an ambassador and advocate for a vital sector; ensure the interplay of decency, safety, net zero and additionality are optimised, and meaningfully contribute to future policy development at a critical moment. 

 

The role will shape, participate and engage in the successful execution of Homes England’s strategic direction, the development of new affordable housing funds and approaches and influencing and delivering the Government’s strategy and policy objectives in the Affordable sector. An in depth understanding of the affordable housing sector, housing development and financing as well as large-scale programme management will be critical.

Person specification

The Director will work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to maximise our Agency investment and support the creation of vibrant and successful places, raising awareness and understanding of how Homes England can partner with the private sector and how they in turn, can support our ambitions.

 

They will be able to demonstrate their experience both as an expert within the housing sector and as an inspirational and engaging leader. They will play an important role in our Senior Leadership Team, leading the Affordable Housing team of c125 colleagues who are responsible for a significant affordable delivery agenda that underpins Homes England’s ability to deliver our mission and strategic objectives. They will play a critical part in ensuring a collaborative approach, bringing together teams and interventions to ensure our partners see us working more closely with priority places, and in a more joined-up way.

 

They will be respected across the affordable housing sector and will be able to influence, engage with and gain confidence of key partners including Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Strategic Partners, Regulators and trade bodies and associations, utilising these relationships to ensure delivery of affordable housing and leverage wider housing supply to deliver the homes and places that our communities need, and to support the regeneration of our towns, cities and rural communities.
