Information and advice produced by the FSA needs to be engaging, and be understood by as wide an audience as possible. The Media, Marketing and Digital team carries out a vital part of this role, disseminating key information through proactive and reactive campaigns, whilst also working closely with journalists and other members of the media so that the UK public is kept safe and knowledgeable with regards to their food. |
Job description
As our Senior Communications Manager Media you will have the chance to work on exciting media campaigns that have the power to influence and impact the way the nation eats, creating a safer UK for years to come. This is an exciting and varied role, from planning communications activity to creating high quality content across a number of platforms. Seeking a better understanding of the impact of our work, you will use media evaluation reports and analytic tools to create more effective strategies, whilst listening to partners and stakeholders to ensure everyone is heard and represented by the FSA. You will be a proactive leader who can present the FSAs vision and messaging to the wider world. Working as part of the communications team, the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues, offering support and insight wherever necessary. This team acts as guardians of the Agencys reputation, and you will understand the impact your work will have on consumer behaviour throughout the nation. Candidates will have a strong ability to engage with the bigger picture and identify the way our work can impact upon public perception in order to create the most effective campaigns possible. Application and shortlisting You will then be asked to complete an application which will be used to assess you against the following essential criteria. Experience · Lead criteria: Proven experience in leading on projects in Communications, Marketing, PR or digital communications and advising senior members of staff on recommended communication strategies. · Experience in creating high quality written content for many different platforms: press releases, digital content, briefings for senior staff. · Experience of integrating digital communications into handling plans and strategies with the ability to use a range of channels including social media and content management systems. Technical · Insight (Core) being able to demonstrate you can examine and define policy issues by developing measurable communication objectives to support the delivery of policy and reviewing communication and media plans to ensure activities reflect policy developments and the emerging news agenda. · Implementation (Core) being able to demonstrate handling high-profile and sensitive media issues by providing advice and guidance to colleagues on writing clearly for target audiences and developing a clear, trusted brief to media and other partners. Lead Criteria An initial sift will take place on just the identified Lead Criteria indicated. In the event that we receive a large number of applications, the minimum pass mark for the Lead Criteria may be raised at shortlisting stage.
