This post can be based at our sites in either Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Durham or Harrogate. Hybrid working opportunities can also be discussed prior to you taking up your post. This role is also available as a designated homeworking role, but will still require some travel to our sites as needed.

Job description

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Strategic Communications and Campaigns Partner.

The selected candidate will be an important part of our Corporate Communications unit, working in our Strategic Communications and Campaigns team. We’re looking for an experienced communications individual who can hit the ground running to provide comprehensive communications plans and support to teams across the College. You will be at the forefront of planning and coordinating delivery of communications to support our key business priorities. You will work closely with other teams within the corporate communications unit to ensure timely delivery of communications activity that enhances and protects the College’s brand. You’ll work in partnership with project teams and communications colleagues to advise on the best solution to achieve our aims and maximise our impact. We’re looking for someone who can draw from varying sources of information to produce clear and engaging narratives, so you will have strong experience of translating complex information and producing meaningful and targeted copy, that resonates with audience groups. You’ll be someone who can make strategic links between different pieces of work, and communicate complex ideas in a clear and easy to understand way. You’ll be used to working at pace, juggling multiple strands of work and challenging others when needed. Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Planing, delivering and evaluating campaigns and projects that enhance the College of Policing brand – developing persuasive and insight driven messaging, coordinating all activity across channels and integrating this with other College communication.
  • Acting as a point of contact for teams across the College, providing a proactive and professional service, building and developing relationships to be able to fully understand activity. Planning, co-ordinating and developing communication solutions that support delivery of our business objectives.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising and planning workload effectively. You will coordinate the development and delivery of plans, through working collaboratively, to ensure that all communication is delivered on budget, on time and on brief.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Experience of working with internal stakeholders to understand, challenge and interpret requests for communications support in a way that ensures all messaging and activity are aligned to the organisation’s strategic aims.
  • Experience of planning and coordinating multiple communications projects simultaneously and across a wide range of channels
  • Strong written skills, with the ability to produce insight driven and engaging narratives and key messages (as part of each communications plan) for a range of audiences to support effective communications.

This role is available for 12 months (maternity cover) as a fixed term appointment to applicants who can meet the College’s nationality, UK residency and vetting requirements, or as a secondment opportunity to:

•    colleagues employed directly by the College or the Civil Service. Please note you will be required to obtain the written support of your line manager prior to submitting your application.

•    serving police staff at the equivalent rank of Inspector who have their chief officer’s approval. Chief Officer’s approval must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC. Approval for a secondment must accompany an application. Central service conditions may apply.
