It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR’s ambition is to become the worlds leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.
We are now looking for Senior and Lead User Researchers to help us design, plan and carry out research to support and inform HM Land Registry digital services.
The Transformation and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for HMLR. We are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take our major transformation programme forward. These teams are at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

We are recruiting Senior and Lead User Researcher roles at SEO and SEO+ grades
SEO Senior User Researcher
We are looking for Senior User Researchers to shape how we scope, design and carry out research activities with users to help our teams build a deep understanding of the people that use their services. Your research will inform policy, strategy, service, content and interaction design, ensuring our services work well for users and achieve their policy intent.
You will plan and lead research on larger teams and more complex services, working with product managers and service designers to help shape service propositions, whilst working directly with the Head of User Research and Lead User Researchers to align user research activity.
SEO+ Lead User Researcher
As a Lead User Researcher at HM Land Registry you will oversee all user research activity across the Technology and Transformation directorate, co-ordinating and prioritising the work across multiple teams. You will hold responsibility for identifying and defining best practices across programmes, and assuring best practice is upheld by the whole user research practice.
As a strong champion of user centred design practice, you will support the adoption of a wide range of key user research methods and analysis techniques in order to support the directorate in making informed decisions based on evidence-based user needs. As a lead, your guidance will also help user researchers to support service teams and projects.
Person specification
To meet the requirements of a Senior User Researcher, you understand and can apply user-centred service design and delivery practices in a government context. You have an awareness and understanding of how digital technologies are changing user behaviour, whilst being inclusive in your research of diverse users, choosing appropriate methods to deliver accessible outputs. You have the ability to think strategically and understand the wider implications and long-term impact.
To meet the requirements of a Lead User Researcher, you will have experience of working in a senior/lead research position. You are able to provide; support, advice and guidance to other user researchers and teams. You are an influential leader who is able to build and nurture strong working relationships with key stakeholders. You will have extensive experience of; line managing, coaching and mentoring other user researchers throughout the practice. You will be a leading figure within the user research community of practice, supporting community leads and empowering all user researchers to produce high quality research.
