How would you like to help transform the way the government speaks to the UK public?
The No10 Digital Team is growing and we are looking for a Deputy Head of Digital, responsible for audience development and insight, to help lead the transformation of our comms and instil a data-led culture at the heart of everything we do.
The team is responsible for setting the agenda for digital strategy, creative and content across Whitehall, as we seek to find ways to increase creative ways to increase engagement with the public in digital channels.
The successful applicant will have a strong track record in audience management for a national brand or government organisation and will have an instinct for turning data into actionable insight.
They will also have good ideas on how to deliver audience growth across all digital channels and be adept at presenting dashboards and data analysis in a clear and digestible way.
They will be called upon to offer up-to-the-minute insight and analysis to senior stakeholders across government, including the Prime Minister.

Responsibilities of the role
- To drive decision making across Digital by delivering inspirational analysis, research and audience planning, gaining the commitment of decision makers to audience analytics, research and planning as an integral part of the decision-making process
- To help develop and deliver the strategic direction of the digital communications team, working collaboratively with colleagues in press, policy and events to improve the impact of the work of the Prime Minister and No10
- To work closely with the other Deputy Heads of Digital to deliver a robust set of performance metrics and agree those metrics with the PM and his team
- To ensure that all new products have audience needs at their heart
- To prioritise activity by identifying and pursuing PM priorities
- To lead and develop talent within the team
- Identify key trends and influencers from a broad range of areas including but not limited to tech, fitness, music and nutrition
- Take responsibility for maximising value from our data analytics and insight tools and platforms
- Integrate up-to-date secondary research from established sources such as Office National Statistics, Cabinet Office, Government Communications Service, central government polling, secondary research agencies (YouGov) and other credible sources.
- Write SMART objectives for comms campaigns based on audience insight
- Deliver insight/evaluation briefings as required to share knowledge and best practice across Whitehall
Essential Skills & Experience
- An in-depth knowledge of relevant research, insight and analytic techniques, ideally in a government, internet, mobile or broadcast environment
- A sound understanding of analytical tools, quantitative and qualitative research and planning methodologies, with an ability to devise new ways of better exploiting data, identifying insights and presenting information in a stimulating and actionable way for maximum impact
- A thorough technical understanding of media measurement across different platforms, particularly new digital metrics
- Experience of running an audiences team
- Experience of managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level
- Experience of developing and implementing a strategic direction for a team or service
- Demonstrable experience of having successfully led, motivated and developed a team of professionals
- Experience with GA, Brandwatch, Sprout Social or equivalent platforms
- Strong understanding of the social media landscape and audience trends
Desirable Skills & Experience;
- Effective negotiation, presentation and time management skills
- Project management experience is an advantage
- Dashboard building skills
- Query writing experience
