Our HR team is looking for an HRIS Analyst to help manage the continuing growth and evolving HR and Payroll technology platform. This role will focus on maintaining and actively supporting ongoing improvements to our Workday platform while ensuring the use of best practices across the business areas.
Job description
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders to understand payroll requirements, analyse business processes and identify opportunities for system enhancements
- Ensure compliance with relevant payroll regulations, laws and internal policies
- Being proactive in understanding system functionality and future roadmaps to ensure we are optimising our use of Workday
- Supporting, analysing, troubleshooting, and resolving Workday issues
- Working closely with our Data and IT teams to develop and maintain integrations into downstream business solutions
- Delivering and supporting optimisation projects and enhancements
- Documenting technical specifications and mapping of impact across the business
- Escalation for complex queries relating to Workday business processes to ensure effective system service delivery
- Working closely with the HR, Payroll and Expenses teams to ensure a seamless user experience
- Training and upskilling key stakeholders in the use of Workday
- Analysing system performance and suggest improvements
- Manage the review, impact analysis and implementation of the bi-annual Workday release cycle, with a particular focus on Payroll module
- Deliver Products, Tools, and Documentation, ensuring the delivery of change is made against a fully auditable process
- Maintaining the security for the system including; testing, assurance, data privacy and best practices
Person specification
Essential criteria:
- 3+ years Workday Configuration experience
- Workday Pro or equivalent Workday training (8+ Workday certified courses must include HCM Fundamentals, Payroll Fundamentals, Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Business Process Fundamentals)
- Functional experience in HCM, reporting and payroll
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, wage garnishments and other payroll related functions
- Expertise in HR data governance and best practice
- Knowledge of, and comfort with, the complexities of integrating HR systems and processes with wider business administration activities
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Process and detail driven to identify the impact of changes.
- A good communicator experience in gathering end to end business requirements and translating these into system configuration changes.
- Experience of engaging with, and influencing, stakeholders to develop requirements, with the ability to provide constructive challenge where required
- Significant experience of change management including implementing new functionality to ensure successful adoption of system improvement
Desirable Criteria
- Formal certification/training in Workday methodologies and practices
- Functional experience in one or more of the following areas: time tracking, security, absence management, integrations
- Additional experience in WD Studio and/or advanced reporting
Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.

Application:

Interview:
The interview will involve a discussion around your experience against the essential criteria as well as asking some Strength-based questions.
Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview. Interview dates are planned for week commencing 11 and 18 December. Please note, if invited to interview we will ask to see evidence of your Workday certifications during the interview.

Terms and conditions of candidates transferring from ALBs and NDPBs
Bodies that are not accredited by the Civil Service Commission and are not able to advertise at Across Government on Civil Service jobs will be treated as external new starters and will come into DfE on modernised terms and conditions with a salary at the band minimum.
Bodies that are accredited by the Civil Service Commission but do not have civil service status will be offered modernised terms and will not have continuous service recognised for leave or sickness benefits. Salaries should be offered at band minimum, but there is some flexibility where this would cause a detriment to the individual.
Bodies that are accredited by the Civil Service Commission and do have Civil Service status will be treated as OGD transfers. Staff appointed on lateral transfer will move on to pre-modernised DfE terms (unless they were on modernised terms in their previous organisation). Staff appointed on promotion will move on to modernised DfE terms. Staff will transfer over on their existing salary (on lateral transfer) and any pay above the DfE pay band maximum will be paid as a mark time allowance. Staff moving on promotion will have their salaries calculated using the principles set out in the attached OGD transfer supplementary information.
