We have a number of roles available across our Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield hubs.
As a Senior BA within DWP Digital you will drive the business analysis activities and lead teams in the delivery of service improvements.
You will use your Agile experience, translating business and user needs into deliverables working collaboratively to define and achieve value outcomes.
You will work with senior business and project stakeholders and will facilitate the setting of project priorities in line with strategic and business goals.
You will be a leading figure within the BA community and will play an instrumental role in our active & dynamic Community of Practice.
You will be encouraged to continually grow your management capabilities and will support colleagues to take responsibility for their own learning and development in line with business needs and strategic direction.
Job description
As a Senior Business Analyst working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing:
You will work on large, complex products or services, or across a number of products or services simultaneously.
Lead workshops, interviews and focus groups to effectively understand business problems and user needs within large complex products or services.
Regularly communicate effectively across senior technical and business stakeholders, ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.
Understand the business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the product or service whilst developing an understanding of how the product or service aligns with the wider strategy of the department.
Lead BA activities and initiatives and champion continual learning & development within the BA community.
Be a leading member of the BA community, taking on leadership and line management responsibilities of BAs. Additionally, you will play a significant role in capability building and recruitment when required.
Encourage and promote Agile methodologies, setting standards across the function and working to educate the BA teams working across the functions on Agile principles, methods and tools to support their development.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £52,412 to £63,517.
Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

Stage 2: Interview
If youre successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the Essential Criteria below:
- Significant experience of working at Senior BA level and driving business analysis activities within complex projects / environments.
- Using a wide range of tools and techniques to identify improvements and make recommendations.
- Supporting colleagues to take responsibility for their own learning and development.
You will also be required to complete a scenario based exercise. Further details will be provided to candidates invited to interview. This exercise will assess your skills against the following technical skills:
- Business Analysis
- Relationship Management
- Requirements definition
