Job description
DBS DIT CivPers is offering the opportunity to join the DBS DIT CivPers Web Team in the front and backend development and support of bespoke web applications for example https://discovermybenefits.mod.gov.uk/
We are looking for someone with current web development experience or an aptitude to develop current IT skills / passion for learning in a new profession which offers job satisfaction as well as onward civil service development.
The applications are developed using a toolset based around HTML / CSS and JavaScript and .net core API Development as well as several other tools and techniques available on request.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility for development and support of Discover My Benefits website hosted on MOD Cloud Azure.
- Management of Backup and DR
- Responsible for the design and delivery of code in a controlled environment.
- Management of code testing and releases
- Support to existing portfolio of websites
- Additional tasks as directed by SEO Web Team Lead
Management and development of 1 EO junior developer
Person specification
Desirable Skills and Experience
Required skills and experience where possible in the following.
Front End Web Site development in:
- html and jsx
- Javascript
- CSS – style components
Back End Website development in:
- .net core API development
Content Management Systems
- Contentful script migration authoring and maintenance or similar.
Cloud Services
- Azure or similar.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay related allowances which could impact on those allowances that the post currently being advertised attracts.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
