Job summary
The post advertised is for 37 hours net per week. The Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Alternative Working Patterns in accordance with policy, can be considered where it can be accommodated by the business, but there will be occasions when a presence on site during standard working hours will be required. All working patterns and flexibilities are subject to agreement with the Line Manager.
This post attracts a TOTAL of £6000 p.a. in allowances in addition to the basic salary listed.

Job description
This post is part of the Training Developments & Standards Organisation (Gosport) (TDSO(G) within the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering, responsible for the management, development and production of Training and assessment materials and activities, training adult learners who are studying for their next promotion and as part of the training will achieve either a Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education or a Level 5 Foundation Degree in Aeronautical Engineering delivered by the MOD, and currently accredited (validated) by the University of Portsmouth. These trainees will progress to be engineering supervisors on Royal Navy Air Squadrons, deployed around the globe.
Whilst formal training is a requirement of the position and will be provided, experience of training delivery and/or an instructing qualification (e.g. Cert Ed) would be desirable. Further opportunities for formal qualifications are also potentially available and CPD opportunities will also be offered.
You will be working in an encouraging environment with a line manager mentor, as well as numerous other experienced training developers, examiners and training managers.

Candidates who have successfully completed a UK Armed Forces Engineering training programme and have attained Senior Non-Commissioned Officer level and have a proven track record of technical aviation experience will be deemed as meeting the necessary requirements.
Both routes must have 5 years recent experience in that trade.

The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six month probation period.

Applicants that are selected for interview will be assessed for their suitability as a Civil Servant using behaviour success profiles. They will also be required to undertake a short trade/employment test and to deliver a 10-15 minute presentation at the interview stage.
