The Senior Professions Skills and Capability Lead will lead on the implementation of the DfT Family DDaT Pay Framework expansion and the design, development, and implementation of the Department’s Digital, Data, and Technology learning offer, ensuring that it is aligned to our business needs and priorities. As a coach, subject matter expert, and critical friend, you will guide and influence the business in establishing strong foundations on which we can build a learning culture.

You will work closely with the DfT Family, Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) in Cabinet Office, Civil Service Learning, and other colleagues across DfT and government to ensure we are aligned, and at the forefront of best practice to build a department fit for the future.

This is an exciting time to join the Department of Transport as we begin this work and support the next stage of our DDaT DfT Family collaboration and our digital transformation, where everyone working in the department uses digital, data and technology with confidence, ambition, and creativity.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the DfT Family’s expansion of the DDaT Pay Framework.
  • Develop and design a DfT Family wide clear and ambitious digital skills framework to engage and inspire all staff.
  • Develop and design a DfT Family wide clear, ambitious, and inspirational digital skills learning offer for all staff.
  • Develop a clear communication framework and process to engage and inspire our Senior Civil Servants (SCS) to develop their digital and data skills.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you will have a background in People, Development, Change and Culture. Collaboration, extensive stakeholder engagement, and change will feature heavily in this role. You will be someone who can provide thought leadership and get to grips with an ambiguous and changing landscape to influence and inspire the department on its digital transformational journey.  
 
To ensure delivery of key priorities and commitments, you will be proactive and possess strong project management and team management skills being able to work independently and flexibly across the team, the wider department, and the DfT Family. You will be an exceptional negotiator ably bringing different stakeholders together and coalescing around a shared vision and objectives.

Additional Information 

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
