Could you use your extensive knowledge and skills to deliver training to the next generation of RAF Engineers, whilst encouraging them to be their very best? Do you want to be part of a team who are encouraged to develop new skills and to be innovative in the way we deliver our business? Then you are just the person we are looking for. No 1 School of Technical Training is looking for Specialist Instructional Officers to train our future Technicians to develop the skills needed to work at the highest levels on the RAF`s the next generation aircraft.

Job description
The role of an Avionic Instructor at the RAF No1 School of Technical Training, provides initial trade training to new recruits, as well as more advanced training to existing RAF aeronautical engineers. It also delivers the same aeronautical training to International students under government contract.
This post is to train students in the Diagnosis, maintenance, testing & repair of aircraft systems using a variety of emulation, real time fault finding, (both on and off aircraft) and associated maintenance practices and documentation and Human Factors. Full training in each specialism will be offered.

Person specification
Delivery of training (theory and practical Avionics) to City & Guilds Apprenticeship Level 3 standard.
Preparing reports on students performance (academic and behavioural).
Prepare and conduct practical assessments, including marking and recording.
Developing and controlling training documents and other delivery media.
Proposing improvements to training design and content.
General course administration.
Additional support duties crucial for the safe conduct of training and welfare of students.
The post holder will be encouraged to diversify across other trade related topic specialisms after suitable training to improve flexibility and increase capability building business resilience.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

Selection process details
We are looking for a person with the skills and attitude compatible with the military aircraft engineering environment, and should have ideally served a recognised apprenticeship and obtained a relevant National Qualification at level 3, but provided they have undergone appropriate training, and have relevant practical experience, and can show the correct Technical skills and Attitudes they can be considered.
Experience as an instructor is preferable but training for this competence can be given.

Interview
- You will undergo a formal interview about yourself, your experience and the Civil Service Behaviours listed.
- Sit a broad ranged theory exam/ paper on Avionic systems and associated H&S to guide us in your best placement within the organisation.
- Give a 15 min presentation on a subject relevant to an Aircraft Electrical/ Avionic system.
