To be successful in this role you will need to have a track record working as a Front-End Developer in a large organisation.

Job description
As a Front-End Developer, you will build accessible user interfaces for DWP services which work effectively across multiple devices and browsers.
You will use modern tooling and development techniques to write, share, and iteratively deliver test-driven code.
You will have a working level experience of modern web development stacks, web standards, user experience, progressive enhancement, performance, accessibility, browser compatibility, tooling, and pipelines.
Youll help build interfaces that are clear, usable, efficient, and performant, both for public and for government use.

Person specification
As part of the application, you must meet the following Essential Criteria;
Professional experience of developing software using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (client and server side) and templating frameworks.
Experience of calling upstream services using RESTful APIs
Experience in developing and sharing quality test-driven code, using modern frameworks and development techniques utilising modern CI tooling.
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team responsible for turning concepts into production-ready user-centred services.
Experience of building accessible and performant interfaces across multiple devices and browsers.
Responsible for ensuring that the design and implementation of services is consistent with standards.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £40,201 to £50,791.
The maximum salary for the grade is £43,347, however a Digital Allowance of up to £7,444 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.
Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 2: Interview
If youre successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the Essential Criteria listed in the Person Specification.
You will be asked to do an exercise based on your experience as a Front-End Developer. Further details will be given to you as part of your interview.
Interviews will take place from Mid November onwards.
