Job summary

Job description
The Developer works on software components that form part of a product. You will be involved in designing, running and improving software that meets user needs. You will typically work under the guidance of senior colleagues in your team.
You will work to our technical standards writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach, ensuring the code is open as far as possible and can be re-used.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
- Delivering secure, reliable and scalable software in your team; undertaking a breadth of development tasks.
- Designing new software using appropriate tools and in line with standards, proving designs through prototyping.
- Reporting on system performance and supporting test activities; keeping documentation up to date.
- Supporting services you have delivered through regular maintenance activities, balancing your work with your leadership.
- Working with other engineers to deliver new capability, for instance improved CI/CD pipelines or test approaches.
Other day to day activities
All our engineers will be expected to embody an open and positive approach, supporting the Home Office in:
- Progressing the DDaT Profession, understanding all roles and helping to build our community.
- Working and assessing to appropriate standards: for instance, accessibility, the GDS service standard and our own community practices.
- Improving our skills and approaches as well as keeping up to speed with the technology landscape.
Person specification
Essential skills criteria
Youll have a demonstrable passion for SharePoint, with the following skills or some experience in:
- Good knowledge of SharePoint and experience in managing SharePoint large site collections.
- Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
- Configuration of SharePoint Search.
- Authoring of custom web parts using SPFX Web Parts and PNP Framework OR experience of Typescript and React.
- Continuous delivery and agile ways of working.
- Supporting live services.
Ideally you will also have the following skills or experience in:
- SharePoint Online.
- SharePoint Admin Experience.
- Serverless using Logic Apps and Function Apps.

Selection process details

The Interview Stage
Candidates showing the required standard will be invited to attend an interview. The interview will assess your Technical Skills (SFIA Framework) and experience using technical and experience-based questions.
Sift and interview dates
Sift will take place week commencing the 8th January 2024.
Interviews will take place week commencing the 29th January 2024 (subject to the Panels operational priorities).
Interviews will be held remotely and will be conducted via MS Teams.

You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years if the role requires CTC clearance, 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
