The DWP Estates function ensures the smooth and efficient operation of this network on a day-to-day basis. We manage a private sector supply chain that delivers essential services such as security guarding, maintenance, property and leasehold, construction, cleaning and facilities management. Many of these services are business critical and we cannot safely open our offices without them.

Working closely with the Demand Manager and Estates Relationship Managers, this role will support Estates with the provision of occupancy planning, auditing, and data compilation services. Assist in strategic planning and be an integral member of the Strategy, Portfolio & Leasehold team that will develop the Strategic Portfolio Plan.

  Key accountabilities

  • Act as gate keeper and as a point of contact for demand questions and queries. Maintaining and monitoring impact of demand requests across the Estates portfolio.
  • Working closely with Demand Manager and Regional Relationship Managers, Workplace Transformation, Workforce Planning to ensure consistency in allocations decisions and maintain Accordant allocation plans as required.
  • Working in collaboration with Relationship Managers, Workplace Transformation and with Senior Estates Relationship Management Team, encouraging joined up team work within own team and across Estates.
  • Research, analyse current data and insight sources, and escalate to the Demand Manager to ensure progress chase as required on an on-going basis to maintain the operational view of demand/supply management.
  • Provide visible and effective leadership by engaging with, and taking a personal lead in key areas of work. 
  • Support development of the business case for Estates actions based on business case requirements.
  • Support the Demand Manager to provide Demand Management Information via weekly and monthly reports for senior management.
  • Provide accurate, reliable and timely information in response to customer requests, questions and needs, sharing information as appropriate and check understanding as required.
  • Establish & maintain relationships, where appropriate through Relationship Managers, with various customers and stakeholders.
  • Act as secretariat for Estates Relationship and Demand Management meetings and AdHoc meetings as required, including wider DWP initiates that may be impacted by demand.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex information in a straightforward manner
  • Comfortable with frequent or rapid change; flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated a higher proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office
  • Ability to consolidate data and floor plans into MS PowerPoint for presentations to client and lines of business
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners and senior stakeholders
  • Communicating in an uncomplicated way, honest and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact

This role is suitable for a hybrid working arrangement, a type of flexible working arrangement, blending a combination of all workplace options (including home) with an office identified as a base and which remains the contractual place of work.  Hybrid working means an employee working part of the week in their DWP office and, part of the week from home.

Hybrid workers will spend a minimum of 40% of their time in the office over a four-week period. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. This means that colleagues’ experiences of hybrid working will differ.  Also, any employee’s experience of hybrid working could change over time as role requirements and possibly personal circumstances change.

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION & SIFT

After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW
