Job summary
This role is within the Operations Division and specifically the Estates Safety Health Environment and Assurance Team (SHEA).
The Estates Auditor leads and manages line 2 internal audits to ensure Dstl is maintaining its fixed infrastructure estate and is in compliance with HSE Regulations, MOD Policy and the recognised industry standard SFG20. This role will also involve conducting follow-up assurance activities as identified within the Estates assurance plan.

Job description
In this role you will:
Work in the SHEA Team, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders from across the business.
Need to be a people person who enjoys building and/or maintaining both new and existing trusting working relationships with people at all levels of the business.
Be expected to advocate audit as a business improvement tool and break audit myths through your engagement with the business. This is an important role and we expect you to identify compliant and non-compliant aspects of fixed infrastructure raising potential risks and propose areas of improvement and/or opportunities.
Fulfil the responsibilities of every member of Dstl Staff;
Lead, manage, monitor and conduct audits to ensure the successful delivery of the Estates internal audit (line 2) plan;
Conduct any follow-up assurance activities as a result of line 3 and/or investigation outcomes (as identified and/or prioritised over line 2 activity);

Important Information

This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.
Person specification
We are looking for someone who has:
The ability to use their own initiative and motivation to lead and successfully deliver the internal audits, whilst being able to report status and take corrective action where any threat to the successful delivery is identified.
The ability to create effective networks and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders from both inside and outside (where appropriate) Dstl.
The ability to follow process, plan, organise, communicate effectively and retain documentation for assurance and governance purposes.
A good understanding of Internal Audit including ISO 19011:2018 (Guidelines for auditing management systems).
The desire to identify and implement improvements for the benefit of the business.
Essential qualifications:
- Must be able to demonstrate qualification and/or competence (training and skill application) of conducting internal audits (e.g. Institute of Internal Auditors, Lead Auditor Course, International Register of Certificated Auditors).
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Facilities Management.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of SFG20.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of ISO 19011:2018 Guidelines for auditing management systems.
- Continuous Professional development as an Auditor.
