Estates and Corporate Health Safety & Environmental Protection Group (Estates) sits within Operations Division, providing the platform and capability to enable the delivery of high impact science and technology (S&T), maintaining the legacy, delivering the now and planning for the future to ensure Dstl can continue to deliver Defence and Security S&T.

The Fixed Asset Integrity Manager is responsible for ensuring that Dstl fixed assets such as containment systems, buildings, fire and gas detection systems perform their required function safely and efficiently whilst ensuring that the people, systems, processes and resources that deliver a safe, secure and compliant estate are in place and perform as required.

Job description

In this role you will:

  • Develop and own the Fixed Asset Integrity Management process and provide oversight to ensure that the people, systems, linked processes and resource to deliver integrity are in place.  This will include oversight and support to the wider estate and Facility managers to ensure a fit-for-purpose service provision, and a safe, secure and statutory compliant estate is maintained.
  • Implement and manage processes to ensure a robust Dstl Fixed Asset Integrity Management (FAIM) capability
  • Deliver a coherent, risk based assessment of assets and regulatory areas to instil confidence that Dstl assets are “safe to operate”
  • Provide technical safety and loss prevention expertise, advice, guidance and challenge to stakeholders and service providers
  • Provide technical safety advice and guidance to the Estates Assurance Manager to enable development and delivery of the Assurance Plan
  • Ensure major hazards and integrity threats are identified, assessed, evaluated and managed in compliance with statutory provision, MOD and corporate requirements

Person specification

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum of five years progressive responsibility with quantifiable results in integrity of fixed assets
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship building skills
  • Experience of building staff engagement and creating an environment which nurtures excellence
  • Robust skills in Microsoft Office software
  • Proven track record of communicating and owning difficult messages
  • A proven track record of delivering at pace, alone or through others
  • Ability to prioritise workload in the face of conflicting demands and flexible in the response to changing situations
  • A passion for excellence

Essential qualifications:

Achievement of or working towards degree level in a relevant discipline, such as chemical engineering,  process safety engineering or reliability engineering

·         Higher National Diploma in Building services or similar

·         Achievement of or working towards formal Health and safety management qualification e.g. NEBOSH
