Catering Services sit within the In-House Services and Estates team and are responsible for the efficient operation of the House of Commons catering facilities within an agreed financial framework. Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for this exciting role supporting the Catering Services Manager managing the daily operation of multiple catering outlets across a range of buildings on Parliamentary estate. The successful candidate will be a passionate and dynamic guest focused front of house professional who prides themselves on their ability to deliver extraordinary levels of customer service and provide creative solutions to enhance our guests’ experience. 

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage a quality, pro-active and consistent guest experience. Continue to drive and further develop systems and protocols in place in response to changing customer needs and preferences, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for guests and colleagues alike.
  • Be visible and establish and maintain effective relations with the team. Take an active interest in the work activities, welfare, and motivation of staff, including agency staff. 
  • Anticipate changing demands by keeping abreast of trends and developments within the hospitality industry. 

Person specification

  • Experience of organising and delivering hospitality service objectives within a multi-outlet catering operation and striving to improve the quality of service, taking account of the ever-changing dynamics of the service environment and the needs of different groups of people.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive, professional, and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the team to help get business done, demonstrating an understanding of how personal behaviour affects others.
  • Experience of maintaining high-quality service standards in a hospitality setting, meeting budgetary targets within the context of a business plan, delivering timely performance with energy, and taking responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes. 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and a high level of organisation. Able to respond to rapidly changing circumstances at short notice and demonstrates flexibility under pressure.
  • Experience of effectively leading a customer facing catering team from the front and communicating with clarity, conviction, and enthusiasm; upholding the principals of equality, diversity and inclusion and a dedication to a diverse range of people.
