Job summary

The Senior International Funds Manager will play a leading role in the delivery and implementation of UKRI’s International Funds, reporting to the Head of International Funds Development. The post-holder will have a central role in shaping international funds across UKRI. Through networking with stakeholders, developing policy and strategy and managing UKRI funds they will coordinate and support UKRI’s constituent councils to achieve their international ambitions.

Job description

  • Work with the Heads of Funds to support the International Science Partnerships Fund providing leadership for the strategic direction and effective management of UKRI’s international programmes.
  • Lead on the development of specific policies, practices and communications, to ensure coherent delivery of international partnership funding across UKRI Councils, and consistent experience for external stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight of international funds distributed to UKRI’s constituent councils, including overseeing implementation of specific requirements for grant administration.
  • Contribute to fund-level governance. Prepare briefings and provide information and advice to UKRI senior management, UK Government departments and other stakeholders.
  • Line management responsibility for 3 Fund Managers, as well as wider responsibility for task and project management as a key member of the International Funds management group.

Person specification

  • Educated to at least first degree or equivalent
  • Ability to see the big picture, adapting strategies and actions to support organisational priorities and add value.
  • Ability to lead and drive project progress, underpinned by sound project management skills and the ability to think creatively to turn ambiguity into clear decisions, offering new insights and generating new ideas with practical application
  • A demonstrable ability to influence and persuade others, negotiate diplomatically, work with people of all levels and to build good relationships and effective partnerships with them.
  • Good people management skills and the ability to lead, manage and motivate cross-organisational teams.
