We are looking for a CCAB (or equivalent) qualified finance professional with excellent leadership skills to take on the role of Senior Finance Business Partner to our Digital directorate. This role is as much about relationships, stakeholder management and business understanding as it is about financial technical skills. You’ll use these to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders as the foundation of your work. You will provide a real mix of advice, support and challenge to your colleagues, providing strategic insight and practical solutions; often going beyond purely financial considerations.

This is a strong leadership role; you will act as a leader across both Finance and Digital directorates. As the face of Finance in Digital you will be an influential voice in decision making. You will be a source of expert and impartial advice as well as a key source of knowledge and guidance. You will become a business expert, understand cost drivers and demonstrate a passion for the business, fully understanding what really matters to your stakeholders. You will look for untapped opportunities and work closely with other corporate functions including governance, commercial, HR and others to ensure their expertise is fully maximised.

Your responsibilities will include:

•    Developing a deep knowledge of the Digital & Technology Services directorate, their needs and priorities, looking at the bigger picture to make sure that the business understands the financial implications of decisions and available choices.
•    Leading on financial reporting, including analysing financial information and preparing summary reporting, ensuring that the leaders of HMCTS can make decisions based on accurate financial information.
•    Supporting the construction of business cases through financial challenge and the identification of commercial implications of options considered.
•    Assessing accounting implications and providing accounting advice in accordance with international financial reporting standards and central government accounting rules.
•    Building financial and commercial awareness of non-finance staff within the business.
•    Showing effective leadership skills in the line management of a team of 3xG7 Finance Business Partners and 1xSEO and 1xFast Stream Assistant Finance Business Partners
•    Acting as key liaison point between Finance and the business, building in depth understanding of different business areas and performance priorities.
•    Providing analysis to support decision making and using benchmarking to highlight opportunities and add value.
•    Identifying sustainable cost savings targets and initiatives as part of the business planning cycle.
•    Supporting the financial analysis of business areas to prepare for Spending Reviews, risk management and business planning processes.
•    Leading a diverse team to deliver an effective and efficient service, while supporting the development of finance capability across the department

You will be part of a wider team of around 40 Finance Business Partners. We take pride in being a welcoming, friendly team with a supportive culture and can-do attitude. We take learning and development seriously both for individuals and in driving continuous improvement, both within our function as well as sharing upskilling HMCTS staff in financial understanding and capability. We are also a flexible team, with true hybrid working across an extensive national base of courts and tribunals buildings.

A key benefit for finance professionals in the Civil Service is our access to the cross-government careers framework: The Career Framework (civilservice.gov.uk), tailored for finance professionals and providing routes into different accountancy disciplines across the full spectrum of government organisations. Additionally, there is continuous professional development to keep up to date. The framework is tailored to finance professionals and provides routes into all different accountancy disciplines, across the full spectrum of government organisations.

HMCTS provides a range of ‘Family Friendly’ policies and access to flexible benefits such as salary sacrifice arrangements for childcare vouchers, Paid paternity, adoption and maternity leave. It also provides an opportunity for employees to join employee-run networks which provide advice and support to individuals and give the views from minority groups that are expressed directly to senior management.
